Gurgaon: After a gap of nearly two weeks, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) on Friday resumed its restoration and sealing drive in DLF Phase 3, intensifying action against unauthorised constructions, illegal paying guest (PG) accommodations and encroachments on public land in compliance with directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court.The enforcement drive, carried out in S Block under the supervision of district town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia, focused on restoring buildings to their sanctioned plans by demolishing illegal structures in stilt parking areas, sealing two PG buildings and removing encroachments from the right of way (ROW) outside nearly 30 houses. Police personnel and district administration officials were deployed during the operation.Officials said the department targeted properties where stilt parking spaces had been converted into habitable areas such as drawing rooms, bedrooms, servant quarters and storerooms. Officials added that some residential buildings were being used for commercial purposes in violation of sanctioned building plans.The drive was earlier conducted on June 18, 19 and 20 before being temporarily halted as several PG occupants were still residing in the affected buildings. During the intervening period, the department served notices and distributed pamphlets, giving owners and tenants around 10 days to vacate the premises and make alternative arrangements. Friday’s operation resumed from where the earlier exercise had stopped.At property S-18/18, officials demolished an illegally constructed drawing room in the stilt parking area using a mini excavator. Six servant rooms and two leisure rooms constructed on the terrace were sealed. At property S-18/19, the team demolished an unauthorised drawing room, removed illegal construction in the rear setback and took action against two storerooms built in the stilt parking area.At another property on Siris Road-16, officials demolished two unauthorised rooms, four domestic help rooms, bathrooms and other covered portions constructed in the stilt area, restoring the building to its sanctioned layout.The department also sealed two buildings being used as PG accommodations. A 26-room PG operating from property S-18/1 was sealed, while a stilt-plus-four-storey building at S-19/14, where six PG rooms were operating on each floor, was also sealed.Apart from building violations, the enforcement team removed encroachments from public land outside nearly 30 houses. Officials dismantled illegally developed gardens, guard rooms, iron grills, platforms, decorative structures, flower pots and other permanent and temporary installations on the ROW.The drive also covered the residence of actor Chandrachur Singh, whose family has lived in DLF Phase 3 for nearly four decades. Officials removed a small brick structure and a landscaped planter constructed outside the residence on the ROW. The department said the action was carried out uniformly without exception.Madholia said the enforcement drive would continue. “Action against illegal occupation of stilt parking, unauthorised constructions, ROW encroachments and commercial activities operating in residential areas will continue. A status report on the action taken will be submitted before the high court during the next hearing on July 6,” he said.
