Guwahati: In a push for agricultural education and research in the northeast, the newly set up laboratories of agricultural sciences was inaugurated at the Assam Royal Global University (RGU).SK Bhalla, secretary, North Eastern Council (NEC), ministry of development of north eastern region (DoNER), recently inaugurated the facility at an event that took place in the presence of Prof Alak Kumar Buragohain, vice-chancellor of RGU; Dr Bidyut Kumar Sarmah, director, NECAB, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat; an the deans, faculty members and other senior officials.“Only when the central govt, the state govts, and the private sector work together can the country truly progress. I have observed that Royal Global University is committed to nurturing talent. The inauguration of the laboratories will facilitate hands-on training and research, enabling students to engage effectively at the grassroots level,” Bhalla said.Prof Buragohain said the state-of-the-art laboratories have been created to meet the requirements of students of agricultural and allied sciences. He noted that it would offer advanced training facilities, practical learning opportunities, and a robust base for research and skill development.The laboratories have been set up in line with the guidelines of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and will support the university’s four-year undergraduate degree programme in agricultural sciences.
