Kolkata: A 51-year-old patient who went missing from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital shortly after being admitted on Aug 6 was found dead 10 days later at the Kolkata Police morgue, triggering allegations of severe negligence and lack of coordination between police stations and state-run medical facilities.Bimal Ghosh from Baranagar went missing from the hospital on the morning of Aug 7. Despite an immediate missing person complaint lodged with Tala Police Station, his family claimed they remained uninformed about his whereabouts until Monday, when Bowbazar cops contacted them with a photograph.Police revealed Ghosh had been rescued near Gate 2 of Kolkata Medical College Hospital on Aug 8 and was admitted. He later died. Unidentified at the time, his body was transferred to the police morgue. Ghosh, suffering from fever and heart-related complications, had originally been admitted to Baranagar State General Hospital before being referred to RG Kar. His family discovered his bed empty during visiting hours at 11 am on Friday, receiving conflicting explanations from hospital staff. While a nurse said he had been taken for laboratory tests, a ward boy suggested he was in the washroom, and a neighboring patient recalled last seeing him around 8 am.
