Revanth treats democracy as business: BJP

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana spokesperson Rani Rudrama on Monday slammed chief minister A Revanth Reddy for viewing democracy like a real estate business, comparing national governance to a profit-and-loss calculation, and described this as a dangerous mindset.Addressing a press conference, she said rights were not granted based on income, and seats were not allocated based on GDP. As per the Constitution, every citizen has a vote, whether a millionaire or poor. She was responding to CM’s proposal that delimitation should be based on GSDPShe claimed that people were observing that Telangana’s resources were being diverted to other political needs. She questioned whether regions such as Adilabad, Mulugu, and Bhupalpally should be left without representation and whether areas like the Old City should be ignored, saying these questions need answers. She alleged that ‘hybrid formulas’ and new arguments were being advanced with the aim of preventing the implementation of women’s reservation, and said the intention was to block opportunities for women.“If delimitation occurs, the number of Lok Sabha seats could increase from 543 to 816, with a significant opportunity to allocate 272 of those seats to women. Even if such a bill is introduced by the central govt in Parliament, Congress will obstruct it, prevent voting and deny women their rightful representation,” she said. She alleged that using Revanth Reddy as a front, a political agenda was being driven under the guise of south India, and said people would respond to actions that undermine the aspirations of women across the country.
