Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy urged people to compare the performance of the Congress govt with the 10-year rule of the BRS, asserting that the state has witnessed robust growth since the Congress came to power in 2023. He said that Telangana suffered “destruction” under the previous BRS regime.Addressing a public meeting in Kukatpally after laying the foundation stone for Indiramma houses towers on Thursday, Revanth Reddy said the state govt had decided to provide one lakh houses in the first phase. He criticised the previous BRS govt for failing to fulfil its promise of providing double-bedroom houses to every poor family.“As your brother, I will stand by you to make your dream of owning a home a reality,” the CM said.Referring to land parcels covered in the prohibited category under Section 22-A, Revanth Reddy assured people that no one would lose ownership of their land and there was no need for concern. He appealed to the public not to believe false propaganda being circulated on social media regarding prohibited lands.Highlighting various initiatives aimed at empowering women, the CM said the distribution of Idiramma sarees, free bus travel for women on RTC buses, bank linkage loans worth ₹65,000 crore for self-help groups, owners of buses, establishment of petrol bunks and solar plants by women groups. He added that stalls at Shilparamam had also been provided to self-help groups to sell their products.He said that the govt was also providing fine-quality rice to 3.28 crore people, 200 units of free electricity to every eligible poor family and cooking gas at ₹500.Revanth Reddy said the state govt was implementing its welfare and development programmes despite the heavy debt burden inherited from the previous govt. Recalling his association with Kukatpally, he said he had been elected as an MP from the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency with the support of the people of the area, but had been unable to undertake development works on the desired scale due to a lack of funds.The CM instructed IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu to prepare a comprehensive development plan for the Kukatpally constituency, with special emphasis on infrastructure and development works.
