HYDERABAD: Alleging that attempts were being made to win the next assembly elections by deleting genuine votes in the name of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), chief minister A Revanth Reddy Thursday said the Congress govt would not allow it to happen.Without naming the BJP, Revanth said some people were claiming that after West Bengal and Bihar, and with the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh, Telangana would be the next target. He urged voters to check their names on the electoral rolls, saying every vote was more precious than gold.“In West Bengal, Didi has given up after lakhs of votes were deleted. But in Telangana, even if the ECI, ED, CBI, I-T and SIR collectively worked, they won’t succeed,” he said. “Telangana Janta ko pata hai kaun kiska aadmi hai. Zeher kiska dil mein hai aur pyaar kiska dimaag mein hai,” Revanth said while speaking at the ‘Minorities Excellence Summit’ event.He called upon Congress workers to door to door to verify voter lists and ensure that not a single eligible voter lost their right to vote.Chief minister A Revanth Reddy alleged attempts were being made now to determine who should be able to vote in the 2028 or 2029 elections. He claimed that the majority of the 60 lakh to 70 lakh uncollectable enumeration forms were from Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.Stating that the Congress govt was committed to the welfare and protection of the rights of minorities, Revanth said Hindus and Muslims were like his “two eyes”.He said the Congress had the distinction of implementing 4% reservation for minorities. Referring to Union home minister Amit Shah’s earlier statement that the reservation would be removed if the BJP came to power in Telangana, the CM said the Congress had challenged him to first demonstrate its removal in Gujarat.Revanth said his govt had firmly implemented the 4% reservation and ensured adequate representation for minorities in govt jobs. Minority youth had secured positions through the Group-I and Group-II examinations, he said. He also pointed out that a member of the minority community had been appointed to the Telangana Public Service Commission.The CM said although some people had approached the courts seeking to stall job recruitments, the state govt pursued the matter up to the Supreme Court and completed the recruitment process.Govt support for sportspersonsHighlighting the govt’s support for sportspersons, Revanth said Mohammed Azharuddin had been given a ministerial position, while boxer Nikhat Zareen was provided with a Group-I-level govt job and awarded a cash prize of 3 crore.He also said the govt had amended the rules to appoint cricketer Mohammed Siraj as a DSP.
