Canacona: RG functionary Prashant Pagi, along with a group of Canacona residents, has filed objections to the conversion of a land parcel at Nagarcem-Palolem under Section 39A of the TCP Act, alleging the use of political influence.They said the project is proposed by R Bose Hospitality Management Pvt Ltd, whose directors are from West Bengal. Pagi also alleged that Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha functionaries in West Bengal are linked to the project.According to Pagi, the land is identified as “paddy field with irrigation command area” under Regional Plan 2021. He alleged that the conversion was processed without input from WRD and the command area development authorities, and without meaningful consultation with the local panchayat.“Goa’s land cannot become a playground for politically influential people from outside the state. When a proposal involving paddy fields and irrigation command areas is linked to individuals holding prominent BJP positions in West Bengal, the people of Goa deserve complete transparency and accountability. The rules must apply equally to everyone, regardless of political position or influence,” Pagi said.RG has called on the TCP department to examine the objections and reject the proposal if it violates applicable legal and environmental safeguards.
