Rajkot: Two young girls — one aged 4 years and another 11 — were killed in two separate accidents allegedly caused by reckless driving by underage boys, in Rajkot city and Morbi district’s Halvad.In Rajkot, the 4-year-old girl Jiyanshi Chudasama was playing with her friend Vaishali in a ground near Chamunda Society on Kuvadva Road. The minor, a resident of Gandhi Vasahat, allegedly started a parked car and attempted to drive it. He lost control of the vehicle, which ploughed into the two girls.Jiyanshi suffered critical injuries and died during treatment at a private hospital. Vaishali suffered multiple injuries and remains under medical care.Based on a complaint filed by Jiyanshi’s father, Mahesh (30), the Rajkot City B Division police have registered a case against the minor driver under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.Inspector Govind Chauhan of B Division police station said the driver has been confirmed to be a minor. “Police are also investigating the ownership of the car and how the juvenile gained access to its keys,” he added.In the second incident, 11-year-old Roshni Morvadiya, a Class VI student, was killed after a Bullet motorcycle allegedly ridden by a minor knocked her and her two cousins down while they were walking home from school in Halvad taluka of Morbi.Roshni was returning home with three other girls from Juna Devaliya village along Charadva Road when the speeding bike struck them near the Sandhivas junction.She suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to Jetpar govt hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Three others suffered minor injuries.Following a complaint by Roshni’s father, Manish (36), Halvad police registered an FIR against the minor rider, said investigating officer Vijay Ahir.
