Aizawl: A cabbie’s quick response saved a woman’s life after she had suffered a stroke while travelling in his taxi in Aizawl.Lalthazuali, a resident of Bethlehem, boarded the taxi from Bethlehem Vengthlang locality for the Aizawl city’s main market on May 12.She suddenly began to feel uneasy and her speech started to become slurred during the ride.Recognising the signs of a stroke, driver Hruaitluanga diverted the vehicle to Civil Hospital, where doctors confirmed that Lalthazuali had indeed suffered a stroke. They credited the driver’s prompt action and told her family members that even a delay of a few more minutes could have resulted in a critical situation.Lalthazuali said Hruaitluanga stayed with her at the hospital until her relatives arrived.She later found Hruaitluanga, a resident of Tuithiang Veng, and thanked him, praising his selfless care rooted in ‘Tlawmngaihna’ (the Mizo traditional value of selfless devotion to well-being of others).
