Real estate firm director dies after falling into gorge at Lohagad Fort; family members say he was to get married next month

Pune: A 25-year-old director of a prominent real estate firm in Pimpri Chinchwad died on Thursday morning after falling into a 300-foot-deep gorge while posing for a photograph at Lohagad Fort near Lonavla, around 52km from the city. Family members said he was set to get married next month.Lonavla Rural police inspector Dinesh Tayade said, “The director, Ketan Vishal Agarwal, was with his fiancée, friends and relatives, when he lost his balance and slipped into the gorge while posing for a photograph. His fiancée’s birthday is on Friday.”Sunil Gaikwad of Shivdurga Mitra told TOI that the accident happened around 10.30am. “Rescue teams reached the spot within 30 minutes of being alerted. It, however, took several hours for them to retrieve the body, which was later handed over to the police and sent for a postmortem.”Inspector Tayade said Agarwal had recently returned from abroad after completing his postgraduate studies and had joined his father’s real estate business as a director. “His family members told us that a palace in Jaipur was booked for the wedding,” the officer said.The police have registered a case of accidental death.
