Rash driving FIR against teacher after SUV runs over house help in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: An FIR was registered against a private school teacher after CCTV footage captured the moment her Mahindra Thar ran over a 52-year-old domestic help who was resting in the stilt parking area of a residential society in Sector 67. The woman later died during treatment.The footage, which surfaced on Thursday, shows Guddi lying on the floor between two parking pillars when the SUV entered the parking bay around 2pm on Tuesday. The vehicle drove over her before the teacher, Neetu Kohli (50), reversed, got out and rushed to help as residents, including children, gathered at the spot.Following a complaint by Guddi’s family, an FIR was registered at Sector 65 police station against Kohli under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.“The Thar driver has been booked, and she joined the investigation on Thursday,” said Rambir, SHO of Sector 65 police station.Guddi, who was from Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh, lived with her family in Bhondsi and had worked for several years as a domestic staffer in Ansal Versalia. Her family said she worked in the flat directly opposite the accused’s house.Police said the driver did not notice Guddi lying behind a pillar while attempting to park the SUV. The vehicle crushed her chest, leaving her with multiple fractures and severe internal injuries.After realising what had happened, the driver panicked, raised an alarm and rushed Guddi to a private hospital in Sector 68. She succumbed to her injuries around 4pm.According to police, Guddi would often rest in the stilt parking area during the afternoon after completing household chores in the society. On Tuesday too, she was lying between two parking pillars when the SUV entered the parking bay. The CCTV footage is now a key piece of evidence and has helped police establish the sequence of events leading to the accident.The SUV has been seized for examination, while police have recorded statements of residents and other witnesses. Guddi’s autopsy was conducted on Thursday, after which her body was handed over to her family.Family members said Guddi was the sole earning member of the household and had been working in the society for several years. They alleged that the incident has left the family devastated and sought strict action against the driver.Police said the investigation will examine all aspects of the case, including the CCTV footage, witness statements and forensic evidence, before a chargesheet is filed.
