ASSAM: Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as the chief minister of Assam on Tuesday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence minister Rajnath Singh. A former president of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Bora is serving his third consecutive term as a cabinet minister.Charan BoroBodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader Charan Boro was sworn in as a cabinet minister for the second consecutive term.Earlier on Sunday, Sarma was unanimously elected leader of the BJP-led NDA legislature party. Following the meeting, he, along with alliance leaders, met the governor at Lok Bhavan and formally staked claim to form the government.Union minister JP Nadda and Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, who were appointed as the BJP’s central observer and co-observer respectively, oversaw Sarma’s election as the NDA legislature party leader.
