Jaipur: Rajasthan will administer oral polio vaccine to around 92.83 lakh children aged below five years across 32 districts on Nov 22 as part of a Sub-National Pulse Polio Immunization campaign, following reports of polio cases in neighbouring Pakistan and Afghanistan. In 2026, Pakistan has reported six polio cases and Afghanistan 36, prompting health authorities to continue immunisation efforts to prevent the risk of cross-border transmission.Rajasthan has not reported a polio case since 2009, while India’s last case was detected in Jan 2011. India was certified polio-free on March 27, 2014, after launching the Pulse Polio campaign in 1995.“Pilgrims from Pakistan and other polio-affected countries visit Rajasthan, especially during Ajmer Urs. We need to continue the polio drops drive as these countries are still reporting cases,” a health department official said.On the first day, vaccine drops will be administered at 54,349 booths. Children who miss the booth-based drive will be covered through house-to-house visits over the next two days. The health department has deployed 69,516 teams, including 5,934 transit teams and 7,607 mobile teams, to ensure coverage in residential areas, bus stands, railway stations, remote settlements and among mobile populations.
