Raj min Kirori Lal Meena discharged after H1N1 treatment

Jaipur: Rajasthan agriculture minister Kirori Lal Meena was discharged from Sawai Man Singh Hospital on Sunday morning after his condition improved following treatment for H1N1 influenza.Meena was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit late Tuesday night after testing positive for H1N1 and developing breathing difficulty, fever and other flu-like symptoms. Hospital officials said he required ICU care due to respiratory distress and remained under close medical supervision.An SMS Hospital official said Meena was discharged after approval from the medical board that had been monitoring his health and overseeing his treatment since admission.The development comes amid a rise in swine flu cases in Rajasthan. Since Aug, the state has reported a spike in H1N1 infections, with more than 70 cases recorded this month.The health department has urged people to seek immediate medical help if they experience severe flu-like symptoms, including difficulty in breathing, persistent high fever, extreme weakness, a drop in oxygen levels or any other serious health concern.A health department official cautioned against taking antibiotics or antiviral medicines without medical consultation, saying patients should not decide dosages on their own or continue medicines for long periods without medical advice.The department appealed to the public to avoid ignoring flu-like symptoms, seek timely treatment and follow personal and respiratory hygiene practices to help prevent infection.
