Jodhpur: Five case files related to the Special Operations Group (SOG) cases have allegedly been deleted from Rajasthan High Court’s software system at its principal seat in Jodhpur, resulting in their removal from the court’s cause list. As a result, the five matters could not be taken up for hearing on August 5.An FIR was registered Wednesday following a complaint by High Court’s Registrar (Judicial), Devendra Singh Bhati.Police have launched an investigation into the alleged tampering of the court’s computer system and disappearance of the files.The matter came to light on Aug 4, a day before the scheduled hearing on Aug 5, when lawyers representing the parties noticed that the cases were missing from the cause list.According to the complaint, the five petitions were initially added to the cause list for court no. 25 on July 31 at 5:36 pm using the ID of a judicial assistant in the cause list section.The cases were listed at serial numbers 196 to 200, and a printout of the list was taken and sent to the court concerned.However, at around 6:24 pm the same day—approximately 48 minutes later—all five cases were allegedly deleted from the system using the ID of another employee.The alleged manipulation was discovered after the concerned lawyers made inquiries on the evening of Aug 4 when they found that the cases were not appearing on the cause list. Staff of the cause list section subsequently searched for the physical files in the court, but the files could not be located.The missing files relate to miscellaneous criminal petitions seeking the quashing of FIRs registered at SOG police station and the clubbing of the cases. The petitioners had reportedly been granted interim protection from arrest by the court. The cases include Miscellaneous Criminal Petition No. 1511/2025, Jogendra Singh vs State; Petition No. 326/2025, Ganpat Lal vs State; Petition No. 2684/2025, Dinesh Kumar vs State; Petition No. 10276/2025, petitioner vs State; and Petition No. 10486/2025, Subhash Chandra vs State.Based on the registrar (judicial)’s complaint, police have registered a case against unidentified persons on charges relating to criminal conspiracy, theft and cybercrime.“We are examining the court’s system logs and the possible involvement of employees whose user IDs were used in the process,” the Kuri Bhagtasni police station investigation officer Girdhari Lal said.
