Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma Wednesday condemned a remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late father, saying such language has no place in politics. He urged Congress to introspect on its electoral defeats instead of making excuses.Talking to the media after a morning walk at Central Park in Jaipur, Sharma said, “Making such remarks about deceased parents was inappropriate. Congress should maintain political decorum. Such statements would only damage the party’s political prospects and further harm its image among the public,” he said.

Taking a swipe at Congress, Sharma said the party should analyse the reasons behind its repeated electoral defeats and address its organisational shortcomings. Instead of making excuses, it should focus on rebuilding its credibility among the people, he said.“Congress questioned electronic voting machines (EVMs) after electoral defeats and raised issues such as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls,” he added. He said voters were prioritising development, good governance and public welfare over what he described as the politics of rumours and appeasement. The chief minister said his govt had committed itself to the ‘One State, One Election’ principle despite criticism from Congress members. Urban local body elections in Rajasthan have been completed, while the process for Panchayati Raj elections was underway, he said.Expressing confidence, Sharma said the BJP would secure a massive majority in Rajasthan in the rural polls on the strength of Modi’s leadership, the state govt’s development work and the party workers’ continued public service.
