Lucknow: An overcast sky and incessant drizzle all day on Saturday caused inconvenience to people, but many enjoyed the weekend splashing through puddles, riding scooters drenched in rain and stopping at roadsides for steaming momos and tangy golgappa while some chose to soak in the pleasant conditions from the comfort of their homes.In Hazratganj, the showers added to the weekend buzz as groups of youngsters parked their scooters by roadside stalls and gathered around cups of tea and plates of bun-butter.Among those seen enjoying the rain-drenched evening after riding through the city on their scooters were Devanshu Bansal and his friends Tina Nair, Shubhan Pandey, Animesh Gulati and Sameer Budhwar.“It’s been raining since yesterday. We missed college today and set out on our scooters, riding through the city, making reels with friends and enjoying the weather,” said Devanshu.Not far away, the monsoon mood also caught up with shoppers in Ganj. Anamika Acharya, along with her sister-in-law Nikita Acharya and mother Manjari Pandey, stopped for piping-hot momos and golgappas after a round of shopping for Anamika’s wedding. The group said the weather made the outing even more special.“We thought of enjoying the weather. We will also go for a long drive when the clouds are so dark and water droplets are coming down on our faces,” said Anamika, smiling between bites of momo.The rains brought a playful mood to neighbourhoods as well. In Aliganj, children Alisha (10), Maria (11), Aarav (9), Gunjan (11), Shashank (12) and Dhruv (9) turned the wet lanes of their colony into a playground. They made paper boats, played football and danced in the rain, making the most of the unexpected break.Alisha said, “My school was closed, so we took permission from our parents. We live in the same colony and have made paper boats. We played football in the rain and now plan to gather at my house, watch cartoons and enjoy Maggi.”For newlyweds Aastha Chauhan and Dev Chauhan, the rain meant a cosy day indoors. The couple spent the day on their balcony, enjoying homemade pasta arrabbiata and garlic bread while watching their favourite movie on a laptop.Brothers Anuj Jain and Vaibhav Jain invited friends over for a relaxed indoor get-together. The group played video games through the afternoon and ordered pizza and cold coffee as the rain continued outside.
