NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms across several parts of the country on Thursday, August 13, with heavy rainfall likely over parts of northwest, central, eastern, northeastern and western India. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also expected in several states.Delhi-NCRRain activity is likely to continue around Delhi-NCR, although widespread rainfall is not forecast for August 13. Another spell of fairly widespread rain is expected over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi from August 14 to 15. Heavy rainfall is likely over Delhi and adjoining areas during this period.Haryana And ChandigarhHaryana and Chandigarh are likely to see a temporary lull in widespread rainfall on August 13, before another spell of fairly widespread rain begins from August 14. Heavy rainfall is likely over the region from August 14 to 17.Uttar PradeshRainfall activity is expected to increase over Uttar Pradesh. East Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive heavy rainfall from August 13 to 17, while West Uttar Pradesh is expected to see heavy rain from August 14 to 17.Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, UttarakhandFairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely across Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand. Heavy rainfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and adjoining areas from August 12 to 17.Himachal Pradesh may receive heavy rain on August 13, while Uttarakhand is also likely to see heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected over Uttarakhand.RajasthanEast Rajasthan is likely to receive rainfall on August 13, with isolated heavy rainfall expected. Rainfall activity is also likely over West Rajasthan, although the spell of heavy rain there is mainly forecast through August 12.Madhya Pradesh And ChhattisgarhRainfall is likely to remain active across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. West Madhya Pradesh may receive heavy rainfall on August 13, while East Madhya Pradesh is likely to see heavy rain from August 13 to 16.Chhattisgarh is expected to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall likely through August 14. Parts of Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu may also see scattered showers.Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. Strong surface winds may also affect coastal and interior parts of the region.Fishermen WarningThe IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into several parts of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
