Hyderabad: To accelerate the high-speed rail projects in the state, the Railways informed the govt to provide 93-km land for the Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai high-speed rail route and 123 kms of land for Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai corridors. The railway authorities said the detailed project reports (DPRs) have been prepared for the high-speed railway projects in Telangana.Telangana chief secretary K Ramakrishna Rao held a meeting with various department officials on bullet-train corridors along with railway officials in the Secretariat on Friday. The CS instructed officials to prepare proposals in collaboration with the Telangana govt and the Union railway ministry. He advised that all departments should work in coordination for the project reports and implementation, and necessary actions should be taken regarding land acquisition, connectivity, infrastructure development, and other related issues.Ramakrishna Rao said that the high-speed rail project connecting Hyderabad to major cities like Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru could help transform Telangana into an economic growth corridor. He stated that the high-speed rail project would serve as a fast transportation system in the country and aid future needs of the public, as well as industrial, IT, and tourism sector development. Railway officials informed that the DPR for the Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai high-speed rail route is ready.Proposals have been prepared for approximately 671 kms, with land acquisition needed for about 93 kms in Telangana. Similarly, land acquisition is required for approximately 123 kms for the Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai corridors. The railway authorities have also informed of the need for land acquisition for railway depots in Kokapet and Shamshabad areas. The CS asked the roads and buildings department, HMDA, and GMR airport officials to coordinate with central railway project officials to support the high-speed rail project.
