Radhika Sarathkumar has raised concerns over the way some social media influencers and YouTubers speak about films, actors, and their families. Speaking after the launch of the Television OTT Producers Council of South (TOPCOS), the veteran actor-producer called for stricter action against content creators who cross the line in the name of reviews and online commentary.
Radhika Sarathkumar slams influencers over unchecked social media comments
Radhika said the growth of digital platforms has made it easier for some influencers and reviewers to make harsh comments without facing questions about their conduct. As reported by Filmibeat, she said actors, actresses, and even their families are sometimes targeted through videos and social media posts. “After digital media grew, it became very easy for these influencers to speak very badly about films, actors, women, or their families. They have the confidence that there is nobody to question them or stop them,” she said.

The actor also spoke about the growing influence of YouTube reviews and social media opinions on films. According to her, the issue is not limited to a certain section of the industry and has become a wider concern. “Film reviews are now going beyond anyone’s control. This has become a major problem across the world, but it is especially high in our place,” Radhika said. She also pointed to the easy access to smartphones and internet services as one reason for the rise of such content.
Radhika Sarathkumar says unfair film reviews need to be addressed
Radhika further alleged that some films receive negative reviews even when they have good content. She said there are instances where reviews are allegedly spread with an intention to create a negative impression about a movie. “Sometimes, even when a film is good, wrong reviews are deliberately spread, saying that it is not good. This is very upsetting,” she said. Radhika added that she has already raised the issue with Tamil Kumaran and stressed the need for a stronger system to deal with such complaints.
TOPCOS launched to bring South television and OTT producers together
Radhika’s comments came after she took the lead in launching TOPCOS, a new body aimed at bringing together television and OTT producers from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada industries. The initiative seeks to create a common platform for producers working across South Indian entertainment. While the new organization focuses on strengthening the television and OTT sectors, Radhika’s remarks have also brought attention to the wider debate around online reviews, influencer content, and the responsibilities that come with digital reach.
