Radha Ashtami 2026: Puja samagri, vidhi and bhog items for Radha Rani

Radha Ashtami is celebrated on September 19, 2026, on Bhadrapada Shukla Ashtami. Traditionally, Radha Rani is worshipped during Madhyahna, or the noon period. The festival is especially important across Braj, Barsana and Vrindavan, where it is celebrated as the appearance day of Shri Radha. For most people celebrating at home, the puja does not have to become complicated. Bhakti remains more important than collecting dozens of items. Here is a simple way to prepare.

Radha Ashtami 2026 Puja Samagri

Keep a clean picture or murti of Radha-Krishna at the centre of your puja space. For a simple home puja, you may arrange:Fresh flowers, preferably fragrant or pink flowers; clean or new cloth for Radha Rani; roli or kumkum; sandalwood; akshat or unbroken rice; diya and ghee; incense; water in a kalash; fruits; sweets and your chosen bhog. Those following a more traditional elaborate puja can also establish a kalash and perform Shodashopachara worship. The Radha Ashtami vrata procedure cited by Drik Panchang from the Brihannaradiya Purana describes establishing a kalash, placing the deity above it, offering new garments and worshipping Radha Rani during Madhyahna. But for household worship, keep one thing in mind: do not allow the absence of one samagri item to become the reason for not doing the puja at all.

Simple Radha Ashtami Puja Vidhi

Begin the morning with a bath and wear clean clothes. Clean your puja space and establish Radha-Krishna there. If you are observing a vrat, take your sankalpa according to your health and capacity.Light the diya and incense.Offer water, sandalwood, flowers, akshat, clothes or chunri and your bhog to Radha Rani. If you already perform regular Radha-Krishna worship at home, you can follow your family or Guru tradition instead of introducing a new complicated ritual.Spend some time chanting “Radhe Radhe” or the Radha-Krishna naam. You may then read or listen to Radha Rani’s katha, sing bhajans and conclude with Radha-Krishna aarti. And there is one practice I would particularly recommend. After the puja, sit silently for a few minutes and think about your closest relationships. Where are you carrying unnecessary ego, expectation or resentment?Radha Ashtami is about bhakti, but bhakti should eventually reflect in behaviour too.

What Bhog Can You Offer to Radha Rani?

Milk-based preparations naturally find a prominent place in Radha-Krishna festivities. You can offer kheer, milk, curd, makhan-mishri, rabri, malpua, fruits or homemade sweets according to what is comfortably available in your home. Rabri, malpua and dairy-based offerings are also popularly prepared for Radha Ashtami celebrations.Keep the bhog sattvik. If you are preparing something specially for the puja, prepare it with cleanliness and preferably avoid tasting it before the offering. You do not need ten varieties.Even a small bowl of kheer, some mishri or a fruit offered with devotion is enough for a simple household celebration.

One Thing to Remember Today

We sometimes become so occupied with the question, “What should I offer Radha Rani?”Perhaps there is another question worth asking. What can I give up for Radha Rani?A little anger? One old grudge? The need to win every argument? An expectation from someone we love?Flowers, clothes and bhog complete the ritual. But if Radha represents prem and samarpan, then perhaps the most meaningful offering on Radha Ashtami is also an improvement in the way we love.Radhe Radhe.
