Pune: State recognised private aided schools and junior colleges will have to complete the recruitment process of teachers and non-teaching staff within three months of receiving permission to issue advertisements for the vacant posts.The move follows a revision in the state govt’s recruitment guidelines.The govt said the earlier two-month deadline, introduced through a Feb 6, 2012 resolution, was intended to ensure timely appointments, prevent academic loss to students and avoid delays in filling vacancies. The additional month is expected to help schools recruit without procedural delays and ensure vacancies are not pending indefinitely.Meanwhile, the school education department amended the provision through a recent govt resolution governing appointments, individual approvals, promotions and related matters. The revised timeline applies to recognised private aided primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, junior colleges, teachers’ training institutes and Vidyaniketan institutes.Education minister Dada Bhuse said, “Schools found it difficult to complete the process within the stipulated period as recruitment involves several stages — including inviting applications, scrutiny of documents, interviews, teaching demonstrations, administrative approvals and joining of selected candidates. Delays in postal communication and processing of applications also contribute to missing the deadline.”The headmaster of a Pune-based aided secondary school said, “The additional month is a practical decision. Completing every stage of recruitment, especially when there are a large number of applicants, within two months was challenging. The revised timeline will help schools follow due procedure without unnecessary pressure.”Another school administrator said, “The objective should still be to fill vacancies before it affects classroom teaching. The three-month limit provides flexibility, but recruitment should be completed as early as possible.”
