Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday directed officers to initiate the process for recruiting more than 1,000 revenue patwaris.In a meeting with a delegation of Punjab Revenue Patwar Union, Mann said the recruitments will provide relief to people and ensure routine administrative work does not suffer. The recruitment process will be completed in a transparent manner in coming days, he said. “The union has decided to call off its stir as its genuine demands have been accepted. The state govt has, in principle, accepted the demand of patwaris to restore the patwari cadre from the state-level to the district-level cadre,” added Mann.He said the decision will remove administrative hurdles being faced regarding seniority and promotions. “The decision has been taken keeping in view the need for administrative reforms and improvement in the functioning of the department,” Mann added.“The formal approval for restoring the patwari cadre at the district level will soon be given by the council of ministers,” the CM said.
