Canacona: A sailor from Punjab died after sustaining injuries in an accident at Polem, Canacona, on Monday. Deepak Singh (23) was riding a two-wheeler with Rajasthan native Mahesh Kumar (24) when they crashed into the back of a truck travelling from Canacona to Karwar.Kumar sustained injuries and is being treated at South Goa District Hospital, Margao. Both were working at INS Vikramaditya at Naval Base Karwar.The post-mortem examination was conducted on Tuesday, and the body has been handed over to the relatives for final rites. The report suggests that the rider died due to damage to the head, chest, and abdomen as a result of blunt force impact.Police have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is under way by PSI Ajit Velip under the supervision of PI Therron D’Costa.
