Punjab BJP defends Pradhan’s resignation

Amritsar: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Saturday defended Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, saying the Centre demonstrated its commitment to accountability by acting on students’ concerns over alleged examination irregularities.Referring to the student protests at Jantar Mantar, Dhillon said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had accepted the students’ demands, adding that the CBI was already investigating the alleged paper leak case and that the Centre had also enacted a new law to deal with examination paper leaks and prevent such incidents in the future.Taking a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party, Dhillon alleged that while AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann had raised the issue of paper leaks during the protests in Delhi, they remained silent over examination controversies in Punjab.
