PRITHVI to take Earth science to the public through films

Lucknow: In Lucknow, the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences opened PRITHVI 2026, India’s first National Palaeoscience Film Festival and National Dialogue on Earth Science Communication. Scientists arrived with specimens and slides, filmmakers with hard drives and storyboards, and journalists with notebooks ready.The hall felt like a studio and a laboratory at once. Curators spoke about turning climate change graphs, fossil beds, and vanishing habitats into images that ordinary viewers could feel and remember. The programme promised screenings, masterclasses, and panels where researchers and editors would trade methods, argue about accuracy, and test new ways of explaining deep time.A festival book and the newest issue of Palaeoscience Today were unveiled, fresh ink meeting ancient history. Chief guest Prof Raj Kumar Mittal called PRITHVI a movement to democratise knowledge. The day ended with Fossil Memoirs, Episode 1.
