Jaipur: The education department suspended a school principal accused of assaulting a Class 7 girl after a video purportedly showing him beating the student at a govt school in Phalodi went viral on social media Sunday.Chief district education officer Sohan Ram Bishnoi said the department learnt about the matter Sunday night, after which a notice was issued and the principal was suspended. “Further departmental action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry,” Bishnoi said. The video allegedly shows Mahatma Gandhi Govt School principal Shrawan Bhargav, in Pabron Ki Dhani under Lohawat block, hitting the girl after she fails to read, grabbing her by the hair and spinning her around.Villagers alleged the department acted only after they threatened to file a police complaint, and claimed the incident occurred many days before the video surfaced online.Principal Bhargav had earlier denied the allegations, claiming the video was AI-generated and fabricated.
