Noida: Taps in Pocket 7 of Sector 82 ran dry on Monday after low pressure left overhead tanks across 884 units almost empty. Residents said they had faced an acute water shortage for at least a month.Home to 3,500 residents, the sector consists of houses with two or three floors. As water trickled from the ground floor taps due to low pressure, people living on the higher floors had to buy cans of potable water. RWA said they have made multiple complaints about the crisis to the water department but to no avail.“We receive water for only about two hours daily,” RWA general secretary Banti Singh said. “The overhead tanks have not been filling up due to the month-long issue of low pressure. Moreover, the pressure is so poor that water is not reaching the upper floors. We are managing with the little water that we are getting.”The residents claimed they are spending at least Rs 240 daily to buy water for their kitchens and toilets. The RWA has urgently called upon the Authority’s water department to identify and implement a sustainable solution to ensure a consistent water supply.The general manager of Noida Authority, RP Singh, has assured redressal.
