Ahmedabad: A pregnant woman from Chandkheda has alleged that her husband assaulted her and attempted to strangle her amid repeated quarrels over his alleged video calls with other women. The complainant had left her matrimonial home and sought shelter with her parents.According to complaint filed with Chandkheda police on Wednesday, the woman married in May 2025 and moved to Thaltej to live with her husband and his family. She alleged that soon after the marriage, she caught her husband speaking to another woman on a video call. When she questioned him, he allegedly picked a quarrel with her.The woman stated in her complaint that her in-laws asked her not to disclose the matter to her parents, assuring her that they would counsel their son. However, she alleged that her husband continued talking to other women and would quarrel with his wife and allegedly assault her whenever she questioned him.The woman further alleged that her in-laws joined the arguments and subjected her to mental harassment. She also claimed that she was repeatedly pressured into bringing household appliances from her parental home despite having already received dowry articles at the time of marriage.According to the complaint, the situation worsened on July 26 when she was allegedly abused and accused of having an affair. She alleged that her husband then told her that he did not want to continue the relationship and asked her to leave the house.Following police intervention, a settlement was reportedly reached between the couple. However, the woman alleged that after she returned home, her husband assaulted her and tried to strangle her.The woman left the matrimonial home soon after the incident and was currently staying with her parents. She alleged that despite knowing about her pregnancy, her in-laws have neither arranged medical treatment for her nor contacted her.
