Santiniketan: Like last year, this year, too, Visva-Bharati will hold Poush Mela on the Purba Palli grounds in Santiniketan. The decision was finalised after a two-hour meeting between Visva-Bharati and the district administration on Wednesday night.The district authorities promised full support in organising the fair, which will be held from Dec 23 to Dec 29. But, an official said, the ground would have to be restored to its original condition within 48 hours of the fair ending. Visva-Bharati VC Probir Kumar Ghosh, registrar Bikash Mukhopadhyay, DM Dhaval Jain, Bolpur SDO Bratati Dutta and SDPO Arpit R Parakh were among those present at the meeting, which SP Vidit Raj Bhundesh attended online. The VC said stalls could be booked online from Nov 15. “This year, special priority will be given to small-scale producers and handicraft artisans. A new website is being launched where visitors can get relevant information,” Ghosh said.Bolpur Municipality will maintain cleanliness.
