Patiala: A section of a lightweight false ceiling collapsed inside a wrestling hall at Patiala’s Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) during an Independence Day ceremony on Saturday.The collapse plunged part of the venue into darkness and sent debris falling onto attendees. Sources said three people were injured, while NSNIS authorities said the injuries were minor.“No one sustained any major injury and all are safe and stable,” NSNIS director Sumit Miglani said, adding normal campus activities had resumed.Following the incident, officials cordoned off the hall, initiated repairs and ordered an inquiry along with a technical inspection to determine the cause.Civil Lines police station SHO said they have received no formal complaints.Housed in the former palace of the maharaja of Patiala, NSNIS is one of the country’s premier sports training facilities.
