Noida: The district administration has barred late-night operations of swimming pools across Noida and Greater Noida. As per an advisory issued by the sports department, pools cannot remain open past 10pm, and activities such as DJ parties, dance events and other late-night gatherings have been prohibited.According to officials, the move was prompted by several complaints from residents over misuse of pool premises, including instances of alcohol consumption and inappropriate behaviour.District sports officer Dr Parwez Ali said that several swimming pools in the district are being run by private schools, universities, residential societies, hotels and clubs.“With rising temperatures, footfall at pools increases significantly. We have received a few complaints of instances where people are consuming alcohol poolside late at night, at clubs. While we are yet to verify the complaints, an advisory regarding timings has been issued to ensure safety and prevent misuse,” he told TOI.As per the advisory, swimming pools can operate between 5.30am and 9.30am and between 4pm and 10pm later in the day.So far this year, a total of 198 NOCs have been issued to pools across the district. These include residential societies, schools, hotels, clubs and private operators, subject to compliance with the new norms. Enforcement teams will conduct inspections, and strict action will be taken against operators found violating the guidelines, officials added.
