Hyderabad: City police registered 563 NDPS cases and seized narcotic substances worth over Rs 22.1 crore during a year-long anti-drug drive conducted between June 2025 and June 2026, officials said on Sunday.According to police, the Jubilee Hills zone recorded the highest number of cases (116), followed by Secunderabad (99), Golconda (95), Charminar (90), Rajendranagar (84), Khairatabad (49) and Shamshabad (30).The seizures included 2,513 kg of ganja worth Rs 12.5 crore, 55.3 litres of hash oil worth Rs 6.9 crore, 1,626 grams of MDMA valued at Rs 1.6 crore, 129 grams of cocaine worth Rs 64.5 lakh, 120 grams of heroin worth Rs 24 lakh, 570 LSD blots valued at Rs 17.1 lakh, and 220 grams of opium worth Rs 1.2 lakh.As part of its crackdown on drug supply networks, the city police recently carried out ‘Operation Thunderbolt’ at Mangar Basti under the Habibnagar police station limits. More than 1,100 personnel participated in the operation, targeting local drug distribution hubs. Police said similar drives will continue in coordination with agencies such as the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and EAGLE.To identify drug users, police also conducted on-field drug tests on 1,550 suspected consumers, with 421 testing positive. Officials said those found using narcotics are being referred to Gandhi Hospital, the Institute of Mental Health, Erragadda, and private rehabilitation centres for treatment and counselling, while enforcement against traffickers and suppliers continues.
