Itanagar: Police in Naharlagun have arrested a suspected habitual offender and recovered 23 stolen LPG cylinders, officials said on Friday.The arrest followed the registration of a case under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after a reported increase in cylinder thefts in the locality.According to ICR Naharlagun SP Nyelam Nega, a police team examined the suspected modus operandi and theft patterns before identifying the accused. The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Arjun Juga, a resident of IG Park Colony, Gate No. 1, Itanagar.Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Naharlagun police station officer-in charge Inspector Krishnendu Dev, under the supervision of SDPO Rishi Longdo, arrested Juga on Juli Road on Sept 3.“Following the interrogation of the accused, multiple coordinated raids were conducted at different locations, leading to the recovery of all 23 stolen LPG cylinders,” the SP said.The SP also advised residents to remain alert, saying habitual offenders often target unattended homes, break locks and commit burglaries.Police said efforts would continue to curb property crimes and protect residents and their belongings in the capital region.
