Navi Mumbai: APMC police, probing the robbery at Meghana Jewellers in Kopri village, sector 26A, Vashi on Sept 25 past midnight, have arrested a woman gang member from a slum pocket in Mankhurd, within two hours of apprehending the first accused from the same area on Sunday. Police are still looking for the other two accused.Senior inspector Abasaheb Patil of APMC police station said, “The two arrested accused had kept vigil outside the shop, while the other two gang members made a hole in the common wall of their rented shop and the jewellery store and decamped with silver articles worth Rs 6 lakh. However, their attempt to break open the treasury safe failed as the alarm siren rang and the thieves fled.”“The other two accused, including the person who had rented the shop next to the jewellery store under the guise of selling fruits, are suspected to have escaped to Jharkhand,” said Patil.Belapur JMFC court has remanded the two arrested accused to police custody for three days as the silver is yet to be recovered.
