Lucknow: BJP national general secretary Smriti Irani on Monday said the defining feature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year public life has been a politics guided not by power, but by service, determination and delivery of results.“When resolve is rooted in public service, leadership is measured not by tenure but by the impact it creates,” she said while addressing a state-level workshop on the upcoming ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow. The month-long campaign, scheduled from Sept 17, Modi’s birthday, to Oct 17, is being organised to commemorate the completion of 25 years of Modi’s public service, spanning his tenure as Gujarat chief minister from 2001 and his years as Prime Minister.Irani outlined 13 programmes that will be organised under the campaign and urged party office-bearers and workers to transform the initiative into a nationwide people’s movement.Reflecting on her political journey, Irani said the responsibilities entrusted to her by BJP, from serving in the Yuva Morcha to holding positions such as national secretary, national vice-president, national president of the Mahila Morcha and now national general secretary, reflected the trust the organisation and its workers had reposed in her.Highlighting Modi’s leadership style, she said one of its defining characteristics was the completion of long-pending projects through political will. Citing the example of Sardar Sarovar Dam, Irani said Modi had consistently worked to ensure that the benefits of the project reached millions of people.“Modi’s governance model focuses not merely on launching schemes but on ensuring that their benefits reach the last person in the queue. Initiatives such as digital payments and UPI have simplified the lives of ordinary citizens and expanded financial inclusion,” she said.Irani also credited Modi govt with bringing millions of unorganised sector workers into the ambit of welfare schemes and institutional support mechanisms. The nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive, she said, demonstrated govt’s ability to deliver benefits across all sections of society.Describing the campaign as more than a series of events, Irani said it was an effort to convey the nation’s gratitude towards Prime Minister and strengthen the resolve for a ‘Viksit Bharat’.She called upon booth committees and panna pramukhs to take the campaign to every household across Uttar Pradesh’s nearly 1.77 lakh booths.
