Pkl’s clean ward push begins with Sectors 9, 10

Panchkula: The MC has drawn up a detailed sanitation plan to develop ward 4 as a ‘Model Cleanliness Ward’, aimed at improving civic services and maintaining high standards of hygiene.Under the plan, all streets in ward 4 — covering Sectors 9 and 10 — will be swept at least three times a week. Daily lifting of horticulture and garden waste from parks has also been proposed to prevent accumulation and maintain green spaces. The plan includes regular mechanised cleaning of major roads using road sweeping machines. Authorities have also initiated steps to ensure that garbage is not allowed to pile up, with prompt clearance from public places. To strengthen waste management, daily door-to-door garbage collection from every household has been proposed — a service currently lacking in several parts of the city.To address manpower gaps, the MC plans to deploy 20 additional sanitation workers in the two sectors. One trolley each will also be provided to facilitate daily collection of garden waste.Further, the proposal seeks allocation of two brush cutters and four beldars to improve upkeep of parks, green belts and other public spaces.Ward councillor Bharat Hiteshi said the initiative is expected to serve as a model for improving sanitation and solid waste management in other wards, ensuring cleaner roads and better civic amenities. The proposal, moved by Hiteshi, was approved in the last MC House meeting, and implementation has begun in phases.
