Panaji: In a bid to strengthen last-mile connectivity through Goa’s motorcycle taxi riders, the Majhe Driver App will be launched on Monday. The app will allow commuters to book two-wheeler motorcycle taxis registered with the Goa Motor Cycle Taxi Rider’s Association from anywhere in the state.Around 2,000 motorcycle taxi riders, popularly known as pilots, are registered with the association.“This is a giant leap from the conventional way of operating the business,” Goa Motor Cycle Taxi Rider’s Association president Suresh Thakur told TOI.The platform has been developed by Graceful Goa Superapp Pvt Ltd to expand the reach of motorcycle taxi riders, improve customer access and support their business through a digital booking platform.The collaboration also envisages future support for the transition from conventional motorcycles to electric two-wheelers (EVs), promoting more sustainable mobility solutions.“With changing times, we have also decided to adapt and embrace technological advancements. The app is a long-pending platform that pilots needed to adopt, and as we move forward, we must also embrace EVs,” Thakur said.The launch programme is expected to be attended by chief minister Pramod Sawant as the chief guest, transport minister Mauvin Godinho as the guest of honour, transport secretary Mahesh Kumar Shambhu, director of transport Arvind Khutkar, Graceful Goa Superapp Pvt. Ltd. director Rebekah Lobo, and members of the Goa Motor Cycle Taxi Rider’s Association.
