Philippines-returned man held for killing retired PSPCL staff

Bathinda: The police in Moga have arrested one Gurpreet Singh from Daudhar Sharki village over the murder of Nirmal Singh, a retired employee of Punjab StatePowerCorporation Limited (PSPCL). Gurpreet Singh had returned from the Philippines just 10 days ago.As per information, 65-year- old Nirmal Singh had left his home on the afternoon of July 16 to get a haircut. On the way, he had an altercation with Gurpreet Singh as the latter parked his bike in such a way that it was obstructing Nirmal’s way . When Nirmal Singh asked him to move the motorcycle so he could pass, an argument broke out between the two. s the confrontation escalated, Gurpreet Singh allegedly fired two shots from his revolver towards Nirmal Singh and fled from the scene on his motorcycle.Following the killing, Moga police formed multiple teams to trace the suspect and arrested Gurpreet Singh on Friday. “A case has been registered under Section 103(1) BNS, along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, at Badhni Kalan police Station, and the accused has been arrested. Police have also recovered the motorcycle used in the crime, along with blood-stained clothes,” police said.
