Phase-I census ops begin in Meghalaya

Shillong: The first phase of Census 2027 operations in Meghalaya started from Saturday with the launch of the house listing and housing census field operations in 9,950 house listing blocks (HLBs) across the state.The month-long exercise will continue till June 14, covering all 12 districts through a fully digital mode of data collection. The online self-enumeration phase, which started on May 1, concluded on May 15 night.Biswajit Pegu, director of census operations in Meghalaya, said 8,309 enumerators and supervisors have been appointed across the state for conducting the house listing and housing census.“They will collect information relating to housing conditions, drinking water sources, sanitation facilities, household amenities, and assets. Enumerators will visit every building and household during the 30-day field operation to ensure complete and accurate coverage,” he said.
