Chennai: Union minister of mines Kishan Reddy on Sunday asked people of Tamil Nadu and the state govt to co-operate with NLC for land acquisiton.Speaking to reporters in BJP headquarters in Chennai, Kishan Reddy wanted the people to support NLC land acquisition for the sake of country’s development. “There are some issues with land acquisition in NLC. We had requested the previous (DMK) govt also to ease the process of land acquisition and we are requesting the new (TVK) govt also to extend cooperation on land acquisition. I also ask the people of the state to extend cooperation on land acquisition policy of NLC. All the revenue from mining with go for state’s development,” Kishan Reddy said.The Union minister said NLC had signed an MoU with Baba Atomic Research Centre (BARC) on rare earth minerals. “It was found out that ash from NLC was found to contain rare earth elements used in the treatment of cancer. It was a landmark achievement. Now, NLC and BARC are starting a pilot project for extracting rare earth elements,” Kishan Reddy said.The minister then praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking steps to protect Tamil language and culture. “In the last 12 years, wherever our Prime Minister goes, he has always praised Tamil language and its culture. He has been protecting Tamil culture. Now, it is time of Tamil Nadu to work for the vision of our Prime Minister to develop the entire country,” Kishan Reddy said.Earlier, Kishan Reddy participated in International Yoga Day celebrations at Ramakrishna Mission school in T Nagar and performed Yoga along with state BJP functionaries.
