New Delhi: A 35-year-old man was killed after being allegedly hit by a car on Main Rohtak Road in outer Delhi’s Nangloi on Sept 15. Police have arrested the driver and seized the vehicle involved in the accident.The deceased was identified as Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Nangloi. His father is employed with Secretariat Security Force under central govt.Police said a PCR call regarding a road accident was received around 5.11am. A team reached the spot and found a white car in a damaged condition on the roadside. An unconscious man was found nearby.The injured man was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri, where doctors declared him brought dead at 6.14am.According to police, CCTV footage of the incident showed a speeding car hitting a pedestrian who was walking along the side of the road. The footage, timestamped 4.54am, also showed passers-by rushing to the victim after the collision.The caller who alerted police could not subsequently be contacted as the phone was found to be unreachable, the FIR stated.Police subsequently registered a case.Investigators said the accused, identified as Rinku Goyal (22), a student and a resident of Nangloi, was arrested. “He was on his way to Noida to pick up his sister when the incident occurred,” police said.
