Amritsar: More than 1,000 people took part in a Vishwa Shanti Yatra here on Sunday morning, walking through the city to spread a message of peace, unity, love and human solidarity.Organised from Company Garden through Mall Road, the yatra began at 7am as part of a nationwide initiative by the Akhil Bharatiya Adhyatmik Samiti (ABAS), held simultaneously at more than 100 locations across over 35 cities, said Sukhamrit Singh, who represents the organisation in Amritsar.People from different sections of society joined the walk, which the organisers said was aimed at reminding citizens that peace cannot be left to governments and institutions alone. “Peace is not merely something to be expected from governments, institutions or society; it must first begin within each one of us,” Sukhamrit said.Amritsar MP Gurjit Singh Aujla, senior deputy mayor Priyanka Sharma, Kunnickaa Sadanand and Bhai Surinder Singh Arora of Shri Guru Ram Das Lok Bhalai Society were among those who participated.
