Ludhiana: A Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) PhD scholar showcased research on digitalisation and productivity in India’s food manufacturing sector at the University of Oxford, UK, highlighting the university’s growing presence in international academic forums.Aastha Sood, a scholar in PAU’s department of economics and sociology, presented her paper, ‘Digital Capital and Productivity in India’s Food Manufacturing Sector: Evidence of Scale-Dependent Effects’, at the research and mentoring workshop held at Brasenose College, Oxford.The study examines how digital capital, including technology-related assets and capabilities, influences productivity in India’s food manufacturing sector and whether the gains differ across enterprises of varying sizes.The research forms part of Sood’s doctoral work, ‘Economic Impact of Digitalisation on Agricultural Transformation in Punjab and Haryana’, which explores the role of digital technologies in driving economic change in the farm sector.PAU officials congratulated the scholar, saying her participation at Oxford reflects the university’s commitment to fostering high-quality research, global academic engagement and innovation-driven scholarship.
