Ludhiana: To mark World Breastfeeding Week, the Department of Food and Nutrition at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), in collaboration with a partner organisation, held four awareness camps across Anganwadi Centres in the city.The camps were organised under the theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works” to promote exclusive breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, and healthy infant feeding practices among pregnant women, mothers, and caregivers. Participants received guidance on preparing balanced, low-cost nutritious diets to support healthy lactation.Dr Kiran Bains, dean of the College of Community Science, emphasised that balanced nutrition during pregnancy and lactation is essential for ensuring maternal well-being and enhancing the nutritional quality of breast milk.The awareness drive featured personalised nutrition counselling, educational displays, informative posters, and practical demonstrations of affordable, healthy recipes to encourage evidence-based feeding practices across local communities.
