PAU entomology head donates ₹25 lakh to modernise facilities
Principal acarologist-cum-HOD of entomology Dr Manmeet Brar Bhullar contributed the funds in memory of her father to strengthen the department’s academic and research infrastructure

Ludhiana: Dr Manmeet Brar Bhullar, principal acarologist-cum-head of the department of entomology at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has donated ₹25 lakh for the modernisation and upgradation of the PAU National Insect Museum and Plant Clinic.Dr Bhullar contributed the funds in memory of her father, Sarabjit Singh Brar, to strengthen the department’s academic and research infrastructure. Officials stated that the upgraded insect museum will offer enhanced facilities for preserving, displaying, and studying insect diversity, serving as a key resource for students, researchers, teachers, and extension personnel.Meanwhile, the upgraded plant clinic will enhance insect identification, pest diagnosis, and advisory services for farmers. The clinic will be dedicated to Dr Amrik Singh Sohi, former professor of entomology (taxonomy) at PAU, in recognition of his contributions to insect taxonomy, teaching, and research.Commending the philanthropic initiative, PAU vice-chancellor Dr SS Gosal appreciated Dr Bhullar’s vision, noting that the gesture sets an inspiring example for institutional support and will create a lasting scientific legacy for future generations.Echoing these sentiments, PAU director of research Dr AS Dhatt emphasised the importance of a modern insect museum and plant clinic in advancing entomological research, teaching, insect identification, and scientific knowledge dissemination to the farming community.
