Hyderabad: Following a breach of its data, a corporate hospital approached TG Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) sleuths seeking to take action against the persons involved in the offence. The leaked information includes details of patients as well as hospital records.The hospital authorities told police that the data was put on an unrelated portal without their knowledge. “A message was also being circulated on WhatsApp with the credentials for logging into the said website. The data published includes patient records, medical information, employees’ confidential data, which constitutes personal data and sensitive personal data within the meaning of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000,’’ the hospital authorities said.The complainant said they share limited information with their business partners and that their data is managed by a Chennai-based company. While sharing the data, precautions are taken to avoid breach, it mentioned.“The complainant at no point in time authorised the collection, extraction, storage or publication of this data on the offending website or any other such unauthorised domains. The availability of information exposes the complainant’s patients, employees and the organisation at large to a material risk of identity theft, financial fraud, and harassment,’’ the FIR said.Hospital authorities sought the blocking of the accused’s website and help in protecting their data.
