Kolkata: To clear the backlog of passport applications, the regional passport office (RPO) in Kolkata announced a ‘Passport Mela’ to be held on Saturday.The single-day drive will be organised at the Passport Seva Kendra in Anandpur, where 2,000-odd appointments are likely to be processed.An official said slots must be booked ahead of time and appointments will be released sequentially on the portal. To secure and process a slot for June 13, applicants will have to register online and pay the fee online. On Saturday, applicants will have to carry the printed online Application Reference Number (ARN) sheet, originals of ID, address and DoB proofs and their photocopies. The regional passport officer Ashish Middha said walk-in applications, on-hold files from previous dates, tatkal applications, police clearance certificate (PCC) applications would not be entertained.
