Kolkata: Days after chief minister Suvendu Adhikari issued a special message on bursting loud firecrackers during Kali Puja and Diwali celebrations, BJP’s Tollygunge MLA Papia Adhikari claimed that bursting firecrackers can cure several diseases.Papia Adhikari, the MLA from Tollygunge, had gone to inaugurate a Kali Puja in her constituency. As she began speaking with a microphone in hand, a firecracker went off loudly in front of her. Continuing with her speech, she said, “You will see that bursting firecrackers will cure several diseases.”“Our chief minister has said that we will burst firecrackers. How can Kali Puja be complete without firecrackers? We will definitely burst firecrackers. However, we will follow the guidelines by the police,” she said.Earlier, speaking at the inaugural stages of several Kali Puja pandals, including those at Amherst Street and Khalishani, the CM said that firecrackers will be burst during the festival. However, he urged everyone to ensure that eco-friendly or green crackers are used and that noise pollution regulations are followed.
