Panchkula: The Panchkula municipal corporation is developing an all-in-one mobile application to streamline civic complaint redressal and issue resolution across the city, official sources confirmed. The unnamed application, expected to launch in a week to ten days, will allow residents to report issues—such as garbage dumps, uncleaned street gullies, un-swept roads, required tree pruning, and potholes—by uploading photos directly to a centralised portal.“We wanted a mechanism where it becomes easy for the complainant and also for us to track the resolution of the complaint. This app will help residents simply click a picture of the issue and post on the App. It will get resolved in a time-bound manner,” municipal commissioner Vinay Kumar told TOI.Currently, staff resolve complaints and post before-and-after photo evidence informally. The app will provide a single platform where assigned workers can upload resolution images directly for public tracking. To align with the app’s rollout and boost accountability, the civic body has restructured its field operations by assigning fixed kilometre-wise beats to sanitation workers, replacing vague zone duties.“Earlier, if there were eight sanitation workers on duty in a fixed area, it was not clear what point a worker will clean. Now, km-wise beats have been assigned to them for accountability and better results,” said the civic body chief. While neighbouring Chandigarh relies on the I’mChandigarh app for civic issues, Panchkula previously lacked a unified digital portal, forcing residents to rely on scattered channels. The civic body currently relies on extensive daily morning field inspections by the commissioner to monitor sanitation and infrastructure. Officials expect the app to significantly reduce the need for physical inspections by offering city-wide online tracking capabilities.
